Mixed Up World

The world is crazy. It's also becoming blatantly evil.

Rob Zombie, an avowed Satanist, has moved from the Hollywood fringes to the mainstream (sort of) with his remake of the horror film Halloween, which is totally raking it in at the box office.

Meanwhile, a practising wiccan fella just won a major lottery in the US (in the neighborhood of 100-mil), which he owes to promises made to his "gods" that he would use the money to "preach" the wicca message if he won.

In other words it looks as though the bad guys are winning. Big time.

And even if you know, as many of us do, that the prince of this world is licensed (by our all-sovereign God) to dole out riches to whomsoever, generally speaking, it pleases, it's still hard to gloss over the impact & momentum the bad stuff is having on the rest of us; bringing to mind the first most obvious question, Where in heaven’s name have all the good guys (and girls) gone?

Where are our well-publicized victories/incursions into the mainstream? I guess our last one was really Gibson’s, Passion of the Christ, which was epic to be sure and sustained (and super-naturally vital for what it had to teach us about the power of Truth), but that was like a few years ago now.

And what since?

It seems to me that with pop culture’s penchant or obsession to continue pushing the envelope and at a dizzying rate of speed at that, that we Christians just aren’t, by and large, in a condition to compete. We won’t, as the world will, just throw money at stuff until it sticks (too risk averse); we will dither, and hum and haw incessantly, waiting for the right "break" or opportunity to come our way, which, despite the dire need of our time, looks less and less likely these days.

I wonder why that is?

Although money is a great tool to do many things in this world, I don't think it is a reward for those who are doing good in this world as opposed to those who are doing evil.

Its a funny thing, that those who posess the monetary wealth are unworthy and using it to spiral deep into their well of backwards-living.

I kinda think that our human flaw, is to percieve these kinda things this way. Sure, everyone would love to win the lottery, but what would come out of all of that? Would we react the same way we are reacting now?
